Yandri Morales and Munir Ben Jemaa win Sarasota Chess Academy August Open

 

 

 

The crucial game between Munir Ben Jemaa (white) and Yandri Morales (black) ended in a draw

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Saturday August 4, fifteen players competed in the Sarasota Chess Academy August Open.  Yandri Morales and Munir Ben Jemaa shared first place with 3½ points out of 4 games and both won $85. John Paliwoda had a good tournament and came in third.

Four youth players shared the Under 1600 prize: Jack Zhou, Rohan Dash, Benjamin Jiang and Jei Hersey. These four talented youth players all scored 2 out 4 and were a big challenge for their higher rated adult opponents. Together they gained a massive 346 rating points in just one tournament.
