On May 5, 2012, we held our first All Sarasota Elementary Chess tournament at Selby Library, in downtown Sarasota.  Many thanks to our sponsors, The NewGate School and Panera Bread.   It was a great success for our first tournament.  40 kids from 7 schools participated.   The event was covered by SNN and the Observer.

The kids and parents had a great time and look forward to the next tournament, which is in the planning stages.  We are aiming for November 3, 2012, and will probably open the tournament to ages beyond Elementary School, at least through Middle School and possibly into High School.
